I do presently show and describe Guyana in three ways.
1) First and newest – the blog, which gives me the chance to speak about the place of work, the people, nature, culture and many other things, using my own resources and also the sites and references available in the global network.
2)Promotion among the friends in Saint Petersburg. Many things were said about it during endless coffees and teas, every single time of Guyana storytelling was a moment of joy since I have spoke about the thing that I loved most ever. Finally one of my good friends advised me to make a presentation in the European University of Saint Petersburg.
I wrote the Head of the Center of Field Research and it was agreed to arrange a presentation on cross-cultural interaction on the case of my work place.
I did not figure out the name as yet but started to prepare. Hope it will be ready by October 28.
3) Last thing which started not so long ago is painting. The main objects are animals, natural places of interest, plants. Not something complicated. I hope that one day I will be able to exhibit all my works and make a big presentation.
Here are some of my recent paintings:

General
To avoid my first mistake of desinformation, let me bring down the facts on Guyana quickly just to provide the general outline. I am not going to put much hereby, but some, and the rest will follow later. So:
It has got border with Venezuela on the West, Suriname on the East and Brazil on the South.
The total area is about 215 000 square km.
The population amounts to 770 000.
Guyana is the only English-speaking country in South America
and the only state of Commonweath of National on mainland South America.
Further I could list more typical descriptions on climat, relief, wildlife, population, economy, politics. But I think there are some other sources which I might be copying by doing this, so
what I am going to do is just to name, enumerate and describe them.
I do hope that by developing this journal I would be able to pay enough attention to each piece of information gradually and stadily.
To get the basics all at one time the best sources would be:
Internet Sites:
1. Guyana in wikipedia or simply http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guyana
2. Tourism-oriented http://www.guyana-tourism.com/
There are the other sites but they provide more simple (thus, far) look on the country
However, I might turn to them as well in order to oversee the complete Guyana content in the web. But this will be the future.
Also there are some books which I managed to purchase while being in Guyana and still consult sometimes:

1. Bradt Travel Guide on Guyana, prepared by Kirk Smock
Published in 2007
This is considered to be the only guide in english dedicated solely to Guyana.
Indeed it is great! No other book encloses so much information and references about the country. If I could I would buy more, the thing is that I already do have one(.

This edition has lots of great pictures as well as basic information,
presentations and descriptions in various languages.
This is the beginning and I do hope there will be more since such a precious land can not stay unnoticed...

The start
My story with Guyana was strange from the beginning. I have graduated in African Studies in summer of 2006, went to Quebes for French Courses and then get back to Russia.
At that time I did not ask myself what for. I knew internally there is nothing that can attract me...
So as one of my friends recommended me I started to look for a job in Africa, in order to see whether the choosen profession suits me.
I have applied for a job in Guinea and Nigeria, but did not receive a response for both.
Then I saw a notifce of invitation for a job of interpreter to one of Russian subsidiaries overseas.
This was the first notice of Guyana. At that time I was completely unaware of it.
But still applied for a job and in three month after fighting with HR on confirming my ability to work and live in remote area, I was offered a job. This was a moment of glory!!!
I was happiest ever, running around, packing bags, doing vaccinations and getting all necessary things. From the informational point of view I spent a lot of time but did not found much.
Probably because at that time like most russians who never went out of country for long I used russian-language based search. And this did not bring sufficient scope to understand where I was going to spent the following two years of my life. But at that time this was not a point for me.
In mid november I started my long journey to South America.
There were three flights to cover Moscow - London Heathrow then a transer on a bus to Gatwick, then the next 8-hour flight to Barbados and from there two more hours to Guyana.
We arrived late at night. When the plane was approaching the land what I saw first from window was the sparkling flat square of Georgetown wrapped in tropical night and thick moist of coming rain.
It was amazing. I knew nothing, I never saw any photos or pictures but this surpressed all the fear I have had before. And still experiencing many other landings after - in Panama, Sao Paolo, Buenos Aires, then Windhoek, Johannesburg, Lusaka, Cairo, and Moscow - never I had the same filling of satisfaction with the place where I was going to be...

Brief introduction
I have been dreaming about this for quite a long time. Some times I was not sure whether it really worth doing, sometimes lazy, thinking that in any case this won't bring me anything.
But time is moving and something needs to be done in order not to sink in this fading grey life of modern North-Western Russia...
Thus I would like to start this journal and dedicate it fully and completely to the British Guyana, the most beautiful land I have ever seen in my life.
I have spent there two difficult but happy years, which changed my life completely.
In 2008 I departed and went back to Russia from where I was forced to go to Africa for another 6 month, but this is a totally different story, which would never be touched here.
I thought that as the time is going my memory will erase the jungles and spacefull views.
Fortunatelly, it didn't. Finally I got convinced that I love this land to much to forget what it gave me during two most happiest years of my life.
That is why I am hereby opening this journal about Beautiful Guyana - the Land of Many Waters, which gives me inspiration to live now, at the time when things fall apart...
